The Introspection of Denied Agency
The experimental short film IoDA consists of three chapters, each marked by the rotation of the turret on a Bolex camera. In the minimal, low-saturation space, two characters behave in different patterns, seemingly interacting with one another. The choreography of the camera and the characters is meticulously crafted—assertive and eerie. The third character, the filmmaker herself, appears at the end in the black-and-white space, as the thin, whispering sounds grow richer and more grounded in real life. The two spaces are connected through similar visual movements and sound design, with the black-and-white space subtly intruding upon and even manipulating the elements in the colored space.
